Kira's Sickness

As we grieve the loss of our precious Kira, many questions are being asked regarding the nature of her sickness.She was diagnosed with Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), also known as H-Flu.In children under 5, this bacterium can cause bacterial meningitis.

  1. Merlin& MaryLu& girls, Want you to know that we as a family are lifting you all up to the throne of grace today. I'm sure today&tomorrow must seem humanly impossible...but what a comfort to know we have a God that carries us through. This morning the song"Under His Wings" keeps ringing in my mind. It is our pray that you may find strengh for each day under those mighty wings. Prayers, Teresa for the Stoltzfus

  6. Merlin & Marylu,
    Only God in his infinite wisdom knows the reason for what you are going through-your loss is heaven's gain to be sure. Kira was a sweet, beautiful child, full of life and love as anyone who stayed in your B&B knows. Our lives were richer for knowing her and watching her grow into such a young lady. Joe and I fondly recall that she told us on our most recent visit 'how big her baby had gotten'...so grown up Kira was and full of pride at being a big sister. Prayers going up for you both today and in the days to come. Weeping may last for longer than a night, but joy will come to your hearts again. Rejoice in knowing she is with the Lord and you will see her again on a most glorious day. Love in Christ, Pat & Joe Saufley

  7. He leadeth me, O bless'd thought!
    O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
    Whate'er I do, where'er I be
    Still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

    He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
    By His own hand He leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be,
    For by His hand He leadeth me.

    Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
    Sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom,
    By waters still, over troubled sea,
    Still 'tis His hand that leadeth me.

    He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
    By His own hand He leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be,
    For by His hand He leadeth me.

    Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
    Nor ever murmur nor repine;
    Content, whatever lot I see,
    Since 'tis my God that leadeth me.

    He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
    By His own hand He leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be,
    For by His hand He leadeth me.

    And when my task on earth is done,
    When by Thy grace the victory's won,
    E'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
    Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

    He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
    By His own hand He leadeth me;
    His faithful follower I would be,
    For by His hand He leadeth me.

    Though today you walk in sorro you will not be alone
    There is One whose loving wisdom is far greater than our own
    Put your trusting hand in his as a little child would do
    And he -- like a loving father will guide and comfort you!

    Day by day ther will come to you new faith, new hope, new light
    You'll find that stars, unseen by day shine through the darkest night
    And though your heart is longing for the dear one who's at rest
    You'll know before the journey's end that Gods dear ways are best!

  11. Mary Lou,
    You may or may not remember me--doesn't really matter. We were in service at FB together years ago. Heard about your little girl before I realized who her parents were. Have been praying for you ever since the pieces fit together. May you especially find God's grace real during this time when there are no earthly answers.

  14. Your family has been in my mind, heart, and prayers daily..
    I pray that you feel the warmth & love from everyone, and you are not alone!
    We are merely aquaintainces and stayed at the Inn weekend before Valentine's Day for the first time.. we felt the warmth there and came home refreshed and renewed.
    Your 2 older girls were outside playing in what was left of the snowpiles..it so reminded me of our girls that are now married and on their own..We vowed to make this a little getaway each year!
    We will continue to pray for your families, now and each day from here on.
    God Bless you,

  16. Merlin & Marylu,

    I just want you to know that each day I continue to hold your entire family up in my prayers. I'm so sorry that the nasty bacterial infection was not able to be treated where the medication was strong enough to help Kira. Such a tragic loss, I'm still reeling from it myself, so I know how terribly hard this is for you... her loving family! Kira will never be forgotten, she will live on in the hearts, minds, and in the cherished memories she leaves with us all...until we are reunited with her again in Heaven!

    Love & Continued Prayers & Support,

  21. Merlin and MaryLu,
    Kira's Celebration of Life and Homegoing were a beautiful witness to Kira and to you and your families. As I looked around at all the people who attended, I could see the face of Jesus. After I got home Saturday evening, I was watching the Gaither's TV show and they sang this song. I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I feel led to share it, hope it calms and quiets your spirits. http://www.stinalisa.com/FartherAlong.html

  23. Dear Merlin, Mary Lou, Marlea, and Anna,

    We continue to remember you as we know how exhausted you are these days after the funeral. All is quiet, empty spots and outbursts of emotion are quite common as you miss dear Kira! I remember back 19 years ago when Lowell had died, that as I hung out clothes on the line one day, I just burst out sobbing. Memories are precious! Grieve in your own way, and cling to Jesus who will carry us in his chariot to meet Kira some sweet day. Heaven is so much closer once again! Thank you for writing and reading that tribute Merlin, and thank you for singing that ever so fitting song, Mary Lou. There was a reason she loved that song. Now you know.

    I also wanted to let you know what comment Grandma Miller made last eve. She said yest. forenoon she was so emotional, she could have cried and cried for you. She was not very emotional all week end, but it hit her yesterday as she knew what you are going through now. We are praying!
